Worldwide semiconductor sales in November rose 14.4 percent over November 2009 on a growing demand for smart phones, tablet computers and other mobile device, according to a report by the Semiconductor Industry Association.
However, sales fell 0.9 percent from the previous month, when sales totaled $26.2 billion. According to the association, which represents U.S. semiconductor makers, November sales rose to $25.97 billion, up from $22.71 billion in November 2009.
Year-to-date sales through November rose 34 percent to $271.8 billion. That compares with sales of $202.8 billion during the same period in 2009. Nevertheless, the association is sticking with its previously stated expectation that sales will moderate in 2011.
