Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, joining via live web stream from his office, will be a presenter at the "Manufacturing in America Symposium," sponsored by Siemens and Electro-Matic Products, Inc., March 20-21 at Ford Field and the GEM Theater in Detroit. The event amis to bring together manufacturing and automotive industry executives, technology leaders, and innovators to explore how technology is driving what Siemens and Electro-Matic Products  believe is a U.S. manufacturing renaissance.

“The changes happening in the Detroit auto industry are at the forefront of what could become the new industrial revolution,” said Raj Batra, president of Siemens Industry Automation Division, in a prepared statement. “Across the world, the global manufacturing sector is searching for ways to become more competitive, as old ideas about the production process are being replaced by new technologies that are combining the digital and physical manufacturing process, driving innovation, productivity and efficiency."

The Manufacturing in America Symposium will feature presentations, discussions, and best practices focused on manufacturing, particularly in the automotive industry.  There will be a thought-leadership summit with leaders from companies such as Ford, GM, BMW and Comau, among others, presenting on topics such as “Global Standards to Reduce Total Cost of Ownership,” “Success Factors for Manufacturing in the U.S.,” “Holistic Approaches to a Sustainable Redesign of an Energy Efficient Factory” and “Making it in America – Build Where You Sell.”  Several of these industry leaders will also participate in a panel discussion moderated by IndustryWeek magazine.

The Symposium will host a microfair, a 3D movie emphasizing the role of automation innovations and a Technology Tip-Off, featuring more than 40 technical seminars and vendor exhibits focused on U.S. manufacturing growth.

“Last year, more than 1,000 attendees from 100 different companies attended our Technology Tip-Off event only, and this year we have added even more content and activities,” said David Scaglione, vice president of sales and marketing for Electro-Matic Products, Inc., in a prepared statement.

There is no charge for attendees, but registration is required.  For more information and to register, click here.
