Steam Valve Causes Capitol Hill Evacuation

An open steam valve in a lawmaker”s office caused the evacuation of a House office building on Capitol Hill, according to an Associated Press (www.ap.org) article citing a police report.

Officials evacuated the Longworth House Office Building after smoke (or steam) was seen coming from a room in the building. Police and fire officials investigated and let people back in the building after identifying an open steam valve as the source of the smoke (i.e., steam).
