The Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals Certifying Organization (SMRPCO) re-launched the Certified Maintenance and Reliability Technician (CMRT) certification program after nearly two years of volunteer efforts to align the body of knowledge and to enhance the process and procedures for administering the program.
The revision of the policies and procedures are designed to follow the SMRPCO”s ANSI-accredited CMRP (Certified Materials & Resources Professional) certification program. The changes streamlined the grading and results process and are beginning the process to align the CMRT policies and procedures so CMRT can ultimately achieve ANSI-accreditation.
As for the revisions to the body of knowledge, the CMRT committee went through a process to review the body of knowledge and ensure that it would cover all industries. This required a review of the job task analysis, as well as the revision and deletion of some of the previous exam items. New items (or questions) were written to make the exam more robust and to ensure coverage of all areas of the body of knowledge.
The CMRT is designed to test the knowledge and skills of those responsible for preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance.
