Precision Polymer Engineering, a manufacturer of high performance molded elastomer seals, held a grand opening for its new Houston facility on May 30th. Invited guests from the oil and gas industry joined the PPE team at the facility located on the Sam Houston Tollway, NW of downtown Houston. The ribbon cutting to mark the official opening was presided over by Brett Finley, Vice President of Fluid & Metering Technologies, and PPE’s Managing Director, Paul Gillyon. Also in attendance was special guest Dr Ramanan Krishnamoorti, the Professor of Petroleum Engineering at the University of Houston who delivered a short talk entitled  ‘Future Challenges of Elastomer Sealing’.

The facility, which consists of office space, meeting rooms, a material testing and analysis laboratory (including high-pressure test equipment), warehousing, and a customer support centre, is designed to serve those operating in the global oil and gas exploration market from bases in Houston.

Engineers and specifiers of high-performance specialist elastomer seals used in oil and gas applications now have the opportunity to a discuss projects face to face, and to work with PPE’s Houston-based engineering and materials team.

PPE will be providing quick turn-a-round prototyping of seals for time critical applications, with all material testing carried out at the new facility.  All engineering led consultations, sales and customer support will be provided by engineers based in Houston.

PPE will also be delivering regular courses on elastomer technology & seal design for oil and gas applications in the Houston facility’s training suite. The vision is to provide world class technical and engineering support, focusing on solving advanced sealing problems, materials support, and test facilities at the heart of the U.S. oil and gas industry.
