The Foundation for Industrial Maintenance Excellence (FIME) is now accepting applications through June 30 for the North American Maintenance Excellence Award (NAME).

FIME, founded in 2000, recognizes and encourages excellence in the field of industrial maintenance, reliability, and capacity assurance. The Foundation sponsors the North American Maintenance Excellence Award (NAME) honoring those facilities — manufacturing, processing, and service industry sites — that have achieved world-class excellence in their maintenance, reliability, and capacity assurance.

Applications for the 2015 NAME Awards are now available on the award’s website at www.nameaward.com.

The NAME Award was begun in 1991 to recognize and encourage excellence in the field of industrial maintenance, reliability, and capacity assurance. Since 2000, the Award has been administered by the nonprofit, volunteer Foundation for Industrial Maintenance Excellence. Awards are presented to individual plants on the basis of their maintenance departments’ ability to provide “capacity assurance for operational excellence” in the areas of organization, work processes, and materials management.

To qualify for the award, the applicant must first meet a minimum level of accomplishment as determined by the award’s board of directors based on the information provided in the application. Those sites that qualify at this level are then offered an on-site audit conducted by FIME/NAME representatives and reviewed by the entire board of directors. Any site meeting the award’s standards of excellence may be honored with the NAME Award. All applicants receive feedback based on the submitted information and the evaluations by the board of directors.

Initial application fee is $1,000 for 2015 entries. Fees for onsite audits of finalists are based on actual costs. The “Quick Check”, also on the website, offers the applicant the opportunity to see if their site is ready to apply. Additional information about the NAME Award, contact information, detailed instructions are available online.
