Peggie Koon Named ISA President for the 2014 Term

The International Society of Automation (ISA) named Peggie W. Koon, Ph.D., as its president for the 2014 term.

According to ISA, Dr. Koon will work with society leaders and staff to increase awareness of the value and relevance of the ISA brand and build on ISA’s range of capabilities and resources for automation professionals, which includes standards development, education, training, certification, publications, and technical symposia and conferences.

Dr. Koon is vice president of Audience at Chronicle Media and The Augusta Chronicle, which are part of Morris Publishing Group, LLC, a privately held media company based in Augusta, Ga.

Armstrong Intl. Expands Its Portfolio with Acquisition of Flow Measurement Supplier Veris, Inc.

Armstrong International has expanded its portfolio of intelligent system solutions through the acquisition of Veris, Inc. Veris, based in Niwot, Colo., has more than 25 years of experience in designing and manufacturing flow measurement instruments. Its Verabar is a flow sensor for measuring gas, liquid, and steam, which is designed to deliver lower operating costs for customers, while its Accelabar is a flowmeter that aims to provide quality performance in challenging applications.

Pump Solutions Group Appoints Carrie Halle as Director of Marketing, Americas

Pump Solutions Group (PSG) announced that Carrie Halle has been appointed director of marketing, Americas.

In this position, Halle will report directly to Walter Bonnett, vice president of Global Marketing for PSG.

As the director of marketing for the Americas, Halle will be responsible for all activities related to the development and implementation of corporate marketing in the region.

Halle’s major function and focus will be to spearhead and support strategic sales and marketing activities, and implement programs that will present a unified brand identify for PSG.

In addition, she will be responsible for providing strategic direction for major market initiatives, including brand and product strategies, market intelligence, electronic marketing efforts, marketing services, community relations, and voice-of-the-customer interaction.

Fieldbus Foundation Postpones 2014 General Assembly in Rotterdam Due to Security Restrictions

The Fieldbus Foundation has postponed its 2014 General Assembly in Rotterdam due to travel and security restrictions associated with the upcoming Global Nuclear Security Summit (NSS) in The Hague, The Netherlands. Originally planned for March 25-28, the Fieldbus Foundation’s global FOUNDATION fieldbus end-user seminar will be rescheduled for the fall of this year somewhere in Europe (location pending), while its End User Advisory Council (EUAC) meeting and business meeting will be conducted electronically on the original dates of March 26 and March 28, respectively. The EUAC session will be the first in a series of such meetings to be held electronically this year.

Viega Promotes Jess Arbuckle to Position of General Counsel

Viega LLC announces the promotion of Jess Arbuckle to the position of general counsel. He also joins the eight-member Viega executive leadership committee.

Arbuckle joined Viega as deputy general counsel in April 2013, where he was a risk manager, a facilitator among colleagues and departments, and also acted as the conscience of the company itself.

Prior to coming to Viega, Arbuckle spent 14 years working for a mutual insurance company as general counsel as well as a member of their executive management team. He operated as a practicing attorney for 16 years before that, focusing on complex litigation matters.

Emerson Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony Showcases Innovation Center & Integrated Operations Initiative

Emerson Process Management held a grand opening ceremony at its Round Rock, Texas office to publicly introduce its Emerson Innovation Center for Process Systems and Solutions. The 282,000-square-foot facility represents a nearly $70 million investment and will serve as the global headquarters for Emerson’s automation systems and project services business.

Wind River Holdings Appoints Mark Self Chief Executive Officer of Philadelphia Mixing Solutions

Wind River Holdings, L.P. announces the appointment of Mark E. Self to chief executive officer of its portfolio company, Philadelphia Mixing Solutions, Ltd.

Mark comes to Philadelphia Mixing Solutions with over 33 years of global sales and customer service experience.

In his career, Mark has worked in a variety of industrial products businesses including: General Electric, Alstom Power, Weir, and Cooper Cameron.

Yokogawa to Bolster North American Operation, Adding 1,000 Employees By 2015

Yokogawa Corporation of America is increasing its North American presence by expanding its facility in Newnan, Ga. As part of this effort, the company expects to add more than 1,000 full-time employees to its North American business by 2015. According to Brad Byrum, North American vice president of sales & marketing for Yokogawa, demand for the company’s portfolio of products, solutions, and services has never been stronger.

CPC Hires Stephen Elliott as Its New Regional Sales Manager in the Great Lakes Area

Colder Products Company (CPC), a provider of quick disconnect couplings, fittings, and connectors for life sciences, specialty industrial and chemical handling markets, has hired Stephen Elliott as its new regional sales manager.

Elliott will be focused on growing sales and managing CPC’s business in the Great Lakes region of North America.

Elliott has extensive background in technical sales and holds a bachelors of science in environmental biology from Plymouth University in Plymouth, N.H.

He is a member of the American Society of Metallurgy (ASM). Elliott will be based in Chicago, Ill.
