Pump Solutions Group Earns Silver Award In PR World Awards Program

Pump Solutions Group (PSG), a global manufacturer of pumps, systems and related flow-control solutions, was selected as a recipient of a Silver Award in the annual PR World Awards program. The 2014 PR World Awards program is designed to highlight the world’s best in organizational performance, innovations, products and services, executives and management teams, public relations and marketing campaigns, and customer-satisfaction programs from every major industry. The various winners were honored at the PR World Awards banquet on June 23 in San Francisco, Calif. PSG earned its award in the "Hybrid Team of the Year" category for the collaborative work it did with its marketing-communications partner, DeanHouston Inc. (Cincinnati, Ohio) on the product-launch campaign for the new Wilden Pro-Flo SHIFT Air-Operated Double-Diaphragm (AODD) Pump. PSG introduced the Pro-Flo SHIFT to the industrial-pump market in June 2013.

CleanTECH San Diego Welcomes Black & Veatch as Newest Member Company

Nonprofit industry trade organization CleanTECH San Diego welcomed global engineering and construction company Black & Veatch to its roster of 100-plus member companies spanning the private, public and academic sectors. CleanTECH San Diego President Jason Anderson said, “The global work being done by Black & Veatch in the world of energy, water, telecom and big data fills an important space within CleanTECH San Diego’s portfolio of energy efficiency smart city projects.” Black & Veatch is a global leader in Critical Human Infrastructure(TM), providing energy, water and telecom solutions in more than 100 countries around the world. The company’s smart city initiatives bring sustainable solutions to market. In addition, its experts focus on system intelligence and lifecycle planning for utilities, municipalities, and leading transportation, manufacturing, and industrial companies.

Finder Pompe Appoints Lorenzo Barbieri CEO

Finder Pompe, which recently became part of Dover Corporation’s Pump Solutions Group (PSG), has named Lorenzo Barbieri to the position of CEO. Barbieri joined Finder in 2010 and led Finder’s service organization as the vice president of After-Sales Business and the deputy general manager of the Querceta, Italy-based facility. During this time, Barbieri was heavily focused on driving strategic initiatives and growth at Finder. Prior to joining Finder, Barbieri was the business leader of the heavy wall reactors business unit of General Electric (GE) Oil & Gas. Headquartered in Merate, Italy, Finder designs and manufactures  API engineered pumps and systems for the global energy market, primarily oil & gas. Finder has operations in Merate and Querceta, Italy, and Venissieux, France, as well as a network of representation in more than 75 countries around the world.

TE Connectivity to Acquire Measurement Specialties Inc.

TE Connectivity Ltd. has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Measurement Specialties Inc. with the aim of establishing itself as a leader in the high-growth sensor market and further expand its leadership position in harsh environment applications. The acquisition is for $86 cash per share or a total transaction value of approximately $1.7 billion (including assumption of net debt), according to a company statement. Measurement Specialties, a global designer and manufacturer of sensors and sensor-based systems with expected revenue of $540 million in its current fiscal year, offers a portfolio of sensor technologies including pressure, vibration, force, temperature, humidity, ultrasonics, position and fluid, for a range of applications and industries. Tom Lynch, TE Connectivity chairman and CEO, said the acquisition is a key part of the company’s strategy to be a leader in the very attractive, high-growth sensor industry and adds nearly $40 billion to its addressable market.

Metso Paper Named as POWER-GEN Europe 2014 Finalist

Metso‘s paper on district heating network control optimization was selected by the Best Paper Awards Committee as one of the three finalists at the recent POWER-GEN Europe 2014 exhibition held on June 3-5, 2014, in Cologne, Germany. The presentation, “District Heating Network Control Optimization,” was highly commended for its concept and content in the Generators, Monitoring and Automation category. The paper described Metso’s optimization controls for district heating through a case in which Metso’s control solution significantly improved performance in a large district heating network with a total heat power of about 1,300 MW. The solution has been developed in close cooperation with Fortum Heat & Power. Metso’s paper was presented by Jyri Kaivosoja, specialist, Performance Services, Automation, Metso. Other contributors to the paper were Markku Muilu, technical manager, Fortum Heat and Power, and Juha-Pekka Jalkanen, director, Plant Performance Solutions, Automation, Metso. Metso said its control solution will benefit energy companies in all countries where district heating is widely used, such as Germany, Poland, Sweden, the Baltic countries, and Finland.
