American SensorTechnologies”(AST) now offers RoHS-compliant pressure sensors, transducers, and transmitters when specified. MEMS-based pressuresensors, transducers, and transmitters support applications includingindustrial OEM, hydraulic systems, fuel cells, medical gases, andHVAC/R. Pressure sensing productsmeet all requirements of the RoHS Directive. RoHS implements theprovisions of the European Parliament and Council Directive on theRestrictions of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electricaland Electronic Equipment. This policy was developed in order to protecthuman health and the environment, in addition to complementing theWaste Electrical Equipment (WEEE) Directive. RoHS is commonlyreferred to as the “lead-free” directive, but it actually covers morethan lead. It restricts the use of the following six substances: Lead,Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated biphenyls (PBB),and Polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE).
