U.S. manufacturing technology orders are up 108.0 percent this year compared to 2010 for a year-to-date total of $1,984.87 million, as reported by companies participating in the U.S. Manufacturing Technology Orders (USMTO) program.
For May, U.S. manufacturing technology orders totaled $388.27 million. This total was down 2.6 percent from April but up 121.3 percent when compared with the total of $175.46 million reported for May 2010. This data is reflected in a recent USMTO report compiled by American Machine Tool Distributors’ Association (AMTDA) and The Association For Manufacturing Technology (AMT), which both represent the production and distribution of manufacturing technology.
“The May order numbers confirm our members’ reports of continued strong project levels by manufacturing companies to improve productivity in their factories,” said Peter Borden, AMTDA president, in a prepared statement. “The 2,000 unit-per-month level signifies a very healthy demand still in place as we head toward the close of the second quarter.”
