HI Honors Beekman for Lifetime Achievement

Bill Beekman, retiring technical director for Weir Floway Inc. (www.weirclearliquid.com), has been awarded the Hydraulic Institute (HI, www.pumps.org) Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented to Beekman at HI”s 90th Annual Meeting, recently held in San Antonio, Texas.

Beekman has been with the Hydraulic Institute since 1969, during which time he has been a member of a number of HI committees, including the Pump Piping, Viscosity Correction, Seals, and Mean Time Between Repairs committees. He also served as vice-chairman of the Pump Efficiency Committee and chairman of the Vertical Pump Section. Beekman was recommended for the HI Lifetime Achievement Award based on his sustained involvement and continual contributions.

“Bill Beekman is an engineer”s engineer,” said Robert Asdal, executive director of HI, in a prepared statement. “He always provides valuable technical information, asks the right questions at the right time, and seeks clarification to inform committee discussions while keeping projects on their intended path. His insights have been significant.”
