Simrit”s bi-component polyurethane rod seal, HDR-2C is a simple, one-piece component that combines low temperature flexibility – down to minus 50 degrees Celsius (minus 58 degrees Fahrenheit) – with extrusion resistance at high pressures. Recommended for use in lift and steering cylinder applications, the component consists of static and dynamic sealing edges made of low-temperature polyurethane 92 AU 21100 and an extrusion-resistant backside made from Simrit’s 98 AU 928 polyurethane. The new seal design allows for the use of cost-effective engineered plastic guides (rather than metallic guides) and allows for easy installation and additional cost savings due to the integration of the back-up ring in the seal. Compatible with standard housings, the new rod seal is being touted as an affordable way to improve cylinder performance.
