Fujikura Rubber Acquires IER Industries

Fujikura Rubber Ltd. (www.fujikurarubber.com), a Tokyo, Japan-based manufacturer of industrial rubber goods, acquired a controlling interest in IER Industries (www.ierindustries.com). Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

IER Industries, a manufacturer of precision-molded elastomer seals and parts, will continue to operate out of its two U.S.-based facilities in Macedonia, Ohio, and Liverpool, Pa. No changes in management or employee base are anticipated.

According to David Ferguson, chief executive officer, IER Industries, "This acquisition will provide IER a global presence and access to newer technologies and a broader product line, allowing us to serve our customers even better." He continued, in a prepared statement, "This strategic alliance will provide Fujikura Rubber with an increased presence in North America, as well as an increased presence abroad for IER."

A certified manufacturer of precision molded elastomer seals and parts, IER Industries manufactures custom-molded rubber gaskets and seals, insert-molded, thermoset-bonded fluorocarbon and fluorosilicone seals, perfluorelastomer seals, engineered sealing designs, and rubber compounds formulated to meet OEM specifications. IER products are used in the automotive, aerospace, appliance, marine, chemical, electronics, industrial, medical, and food and beverage markets.
