Food and beverage manufacturers and distributors are “ramping up” plans to build new manufacturing plants and distribution facilities across North America, according to a report by Industrial Info.
A total of 130 construction projects are planned or under construction and are scheduled to be completed by the end of the 2012 for a combined total investment value (TIV) of about $2.6 billion.
Industrial Info says the investment values of the projects range from $600,000 up to $160 million and are being developed by companies such as Archer Daniels Midland Company, General Mills, Sysco, U.S. Foods, Bunge Limited, and others.
The Midwest region will see the highest grassroot construction activity with 21 projects totaling $545 million, followed by the Great Lakes region with 19 projects worth $247 million, and the Southeast region with 16 projects worth $382 million, accounting for the top three markets.
