The proposed acquisition of U.S. firm Dresser Holdings by General Electric Company (GE), another U.S. company, has been validated by a European Union commission, according to a report by instalbiz.

After review, the commission reached the conclusion that the transaction would hinder competition in the European Union.

The survey conducted by the commission showed that the horizontal overlaps between the activities of GE and those of Dresser and that would be limited to relevant products, including generators, gas company after the merger continue to be confronted with strong, effective competitors with significant market shares.
