Emerson (www.emerson.com) acquired TopWorx (www.topworx.com), a provider of valve control and position sensing solutions. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to Emerson, TopWorx will become part of the Emerson Process Management (www.emersonprocess.com) business unit, which offers instruments and automation solutions for industrial fluid handling applications. The aim of the acquisition is to extend the reach of the Emerson Process Management’s PlantWeb digital plant architecture to on-off valves and other instruments.

Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, TopWorx manufactures industrial sensors and controls that monitor and control automated valves and other field devices. TopWorx Valvetop discrete valve controllers connect on-off valves to a variety of fieldbus networking protocols. TopWorx’s GO Switch leverless limit switches provide reliable position sensing in harsh environments and tough applications. The company also has offices in the United Kingdom, Singapore, and South Africa.
