The Department of Energy’s Industrial Technologies Program (ITP, www.eere.energy.gov/industry/) performed nine plant reviews under its Energy Savings Assessment (ESA) program, identifying $28 million per year in potential energy cost savings. If its recommended improvements are implemented, the DOE says these plants will reduce natural gas consumption by more than three trillion BTU per year, equivalent to the natural gas consumed by more than 40,000 typical U.S. homes in one year.

As part of its ESA program, the DOE has selected 200 facilities for energy assessments. To see results from completed assessments and access publications, software tools, and other resources to help save energy and cut costs, visit www.eere.energy.gov/industry/saveenergynow/. The site’s database houses more than 200 technical publications focused on optimizing plant systems. A full listing of scheduled Webcast workshops, training events, and lectures is also provided.
