Universal Flow Monitors’ seven new Battery-Powered CoolPoint Vortex Shedding Flowmeters are designed for water, chemicals and corrosives in situations where there is no power located nearby or in which it would be cost-prohibitive to wire the monitoring station. The flowmeter runs on three AA alkaline batteries or lithium batteries and has no moving parts to stick or coat, eliminating potential for clogging. It will indicate flowrate or total on an LCD screen. The flowmeters range in sizes from 1/4 inch to 2 inches with maximum flow ranges from 4 GPM to 200 GPM, maximum pressure of 300 PSI, and temperature ranges from 32 F to 210 F. Users may select the flow to be expressed in gallons, liters or cubic meters per minute. Standard features of other CoolPoint flowmeters include: Brass or 316 stainless steel body with viton seals and PVDF sensors; flow repeatability of +/-.25 percent (1/4 of 1 percent); and turndown ratio of 10-to-1. The CoolPoint Vortex Shedding Flowmeters use a bluff body obstruction to produce vortices, and an electronic transducer measures these oscillations to provide a signal proportional to flowrate. Increasing flow increases the frequency of oscillation.
