Grundfos breaks ground on LEED-certified facility

Grundfos expects its new 40,000-square-foot office building in Lenexa, Kansas, to be completed in the fall of 2017. It broke ground on the facility in April.

The new space, which will replace the current offices in Olathe, will be LEED-certified. It will house Grundfos’ customer service, technical training, marketing, business development and other support for the Americas and USA Sales.

Solenis expands geographic presence with acquisition

Solenis LLC acquired 100 percent of the shares of Lostris International B.V. and Wester Blend B.V. The companies will help Solenis broaden its process chemicals offerings and help it expand its geographic presence.

Pharma tech firms partner to improve production performance

Zenith Technologies and Werum IT Solutions partnered to support pharmaceutical companies with manufacturing execution system (MES) technology. Werum IT Solutions’ MES PAS-X software is designed to increase efficiency, improve productivity and meet regulatory requirements, while Zenith Technologies integrates systems and provides on-the-ground technical support.

Joint venture aims to grow vibratory material flow technology in South Asia

National Air Vibrator Company (NAVCO) of Houston, Texas, and KJN Enterprises of Mumbai joined to deliver material flow solutions in South Asia. KJN will allow NAVCO to have an on-the-ground partner, while NAVCO INDIA provides KJN will greater responsiveness to customer needs in the region.

A.W. Chesterton opens new headquarters

Groveland, Massachusetts, is the home of A.W. Chesterton Company’s new headquarters. The company held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the new facility, which includes an industrial training center for distributors and customers, valve testing laboratory and a New England service center to offer regional repair of pumps, cylinders and seals.

For the first time in 115, the new facility will allow all 550 Massachusetts employees to operate in one location.

Labworks LLC acquires laboratory information management company

LABWORKS LIMS, formerly part of PerkinElmer Health Services, is now a brand of Labworks LLC after a recent acquisition. The LAMBWORK LIMS (laboratory information management systems) product line has a 25-year history. Labworks LLC employs several former experienced PerkinElmer/LABWORKS employees.

Kistler acquires Schatz AG and its US company

The Schatz Group will market its systems through Kistler’s global network as a part of Schatz AG and its U.S. sales and service company Schatz USA Inc. Kistler said the transaction helps it strengthen its position in quality assurance in industrial manufacturing. "The Schatz Group develops, manufactures and distributes laboratory systems for the analysis of screw connections, calibration equipment and test systems for torque tools, and portable measurement systems for random sample testing."

Targa Terminals awards contract to KP Engineering

KP Engineering (KPE) won a contract worth more than $100 million from Targa Terminals LLC, a subsidiary of Targa Resources Corp. KPE specializes in engineering, procurement and construction solutions.

As part of the contract, KPE will design and construct a tank farm and 35,000-barrel-per-day crude and condensate splitter for Targa’s storage and marine facility in Clearview, Texas.

Appointments

R&M appoints North America regional manager

Markus Huber will serve as regional manager for North America for R&M. R&M recently acquired REALM Communications Group Inc., which will operate as R&M USA Inc. Huber will serve as its president after recently leading the company’s Global Customer Project Management Group at its headquarters in Switzerland.

National sales manager joins WANGEN

Lou Torres Jr. will serve as national sales manager with WANGEN AMERICA Inc. to focus on expanding the distribution network of progressive cavity pumps for the wastewater, industry, biogas, agriculture and chemistry markets. WANGEN AMERICA Inc. is a subsidiary of Pumpenfabrik Wangen GmbH.

Industry veteran joins Bunting advisory board

Kevin Bowen was appointed to Bunting Magnetics Co.’s advisory board. Bowen spent most of his 40-year manufacturing career at Coperion K-Tron, where he rose from production manager to a 22-year run as president of K-Tron International.

OTC technology award goes to Halliburton

Halliburton’s BaraLogix Density and Rheology Unit received the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2016 Spotlight on New Technology Award during the event on May 2. The automated system measures drilling fluids in real time.

The awards honor technologies that are less than two years old, have proven application, broad industry appeal and demonstrate significant benefits beyond current technologies.

Manufacturing Institute recognizes BASF VP with STEP award

BASF Corporation’s Vice President of Operations – Industrial Petrochemicals Nicole McGlone-Santistevan received the Manufacturing Institute’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Production (STEP) Ahead award. The award is given to women in all levels of the manufacturing industry who demonstrate excellence and leadership in their careers. McGlone-Santistevan has more than 25 years of experience in chemical manufacturing.

One hundred women were honored in the fourth annual STEP Ahead awards. Another 30 women under age 30 were recognized for their accomplishments early in their careers.

LAGCOE receives presidential award for exports contribution

U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker presented the President’s ‘E’ Award for Export Service to Louisiana Gulf Coast Oil Expansion (LAGCOE). The recognition represents the highest award a U.S. entity can receive for its significant contributions to the expansion of U.S. exports.

LAGCOE is a Louisiana-based nonprofit that hold a biennial exposition and conference and programs to support the stability and growth of energy companies.

ISA honored with North Carolina Army National Guard award

On behalf of the National Guard Bureau, the North Carolina Army National Guard presented an award of appreciation to the International Society of Automation (ISA) for its support of Cyber Shield 2016.

More than 1,000 Army National Guard, Air National Guard soldiers, airmen, Marines, sailors and civilians participated in the nationwide April event. It focused on "training cyber teams on network defense, forensic analysis, reporting and mitigation, and incident response through interagency partnerships and collaboration."

Society of Chemical Industry awards paid internship to junior college student

Westminster College junior chemistry major Abigail Cawoski received a paid internship at LyondellBasell Industries in Cincinnati, Ohio, from the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI). Twenty-seven students were chosen from 243 applications.

SCI, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers and the American Chemical Society create the program to introduce chemical engineering and chemistry careers to students.

Badger Meter recognized for arts support

A 2016 BCA 10: Best Business Partnering with the Arts in America Award went to Badger Meter for its supportive efforts to advance the arts and arts education. It is one of 10 U.S. companies to receive the designation from the Business Committee for the Arts, a division of Americans for the Arts, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing the arts and arts education.
