The ISA100 Wireless Compliance Institute has is offering a free webinar on safe wireless communications using ISA100 for infrared gas detectors. This webinar, presented by Niels Aakvaag, Senior System Architect for GasSecure, is designed for end-users, suppliers, and system integrators involved with wireless in an industrial and/or plant-based system.
There has been an understandable reluctance in the market to accept wireless communication as an integral part of safety critical applications. However, the Industrial Wireless Compliance Institute believes these applications can also benefit from the use of wireless technologies if the obstacles can be overcome. Mr. Aakvaag, the presented of the webinar, received his MSc in communication from Imperial College London, England in 1990, and his PhD in signal processing from E.N.S.E.E.I.H.T. in Toulouse, France in 1996. Currently he is the senior system architect at GasSecure, responsible for wireless and wired communication. His expertise is in short-range wireless systems, such as ISA100, WirelessHART, ZigBee, and Bluetooth. He has 20 years' experience from NERA, ABB, and SINTEF, and he has authored 25 technical papers and holds 11 patents in short range communication systems.
