About the Pump Guy Seminar
The Pump Guy Seminar is presented by world-renowned pump expert Larry Bachus (a.k.a. "Pump Guy"). The training is designed to provide process plant engineers, managers, technicians, operators, and others involved with pumping systems technical knowledge on industrial pump design, operation, and maintenance. Upon completion of this training event, attendees will be armed with the necessary information to improve plant production via reliable pump and process piping system design strategy. Attendees receive a complimentary companion text, Everything You Need to Know About Pumps, and trainings include breakfast and a hot buffet lunch.

Who Is the Pump Guy?

Larry Bachus
(The Pump Guy)
Larry Bachus (a.k.a. "Pump Guy") has nearly 30 years experience working with industrial pumps. His areas of expertise include diagnosing pump problems and seal failures. He has taught pump and seal improvement courses at major plants and facilities across the globe. Since October of 2007, Larry has been working with Flow Control magazine to present the Pump Guy Seminar throughout the continental United States.

Larry began his work career as a pump mechanic apprentice in a southern steel mill.  He continued working on pumps while serving in the US Navy. After completing his military service, Larry graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. He worked selling and installing pumps, while designing his own products at night. For a period of time, Larry ran his own pump rebuild shop. He began compiling some of his original ideas to improve the service life of the pumps. Larry incorporated his own company in 1988 after developing a tool that broke the code on identification of rubber compounds used in o-rings and other seals and gaskets. Today, this tool is an industry standard.

Larry has taught as adjunct faculty at Cumberland University and also at the Tennessee Technological Center. He is a retired member of the ASME and writes a monthly column for Flow Control magazine. When not on the road teaching, Larry lives in Tennessee, where he continues inventing new products.
